Case Study: Mosby Nursing Skills
Challenge
Mosby is one of the world’s leading medical textbook publishers. One of their bestsellers is the Fundamentals of Nursing by Potter and Perry. To provide another educational tool for its customers, Mosby wanted to create nursing skills training videos as a companion to its best-selling textbook.
Action
Vector produced nearly 40 half-hour nursing skills videos for Mosby Medical Publishing, on topics ranging from bathing and nutrition to wound care and injections. We did not use an on-camera host, nor did we use medical mannequins, as is common in presentations of this kind. Instead we used actual nurses and nursing students, plus real people as patients in actual hospital and nursing home settings to demonstrate the skills.
Result
Not only are the videos selling, but they have provided Mosby with a top quality resource that they are using and re-using to provide various types of multi-media teaching and learning resources for both students and practicing nurses. In addition, the videos have won several national video production awards.
